What are the main ingredients that MacuShield® contains?
MacuShield® contains:

What is Meso-zeaxanthin?
Meso-zeaxanthin is one of the three

carotenoids . Research has shown that meso-zeaxanthin is generated at the
retina
from lutein, however scientists believe that some individuals are unable to perform this conversion. In fact, a recent study from the US has shown that the
antioxidant potential of
macular pigment is enhanced when meso-zeaxanthin is present.
Where is meso-zeaxanthin found?
Meso-zeaxanthin, is located at the centre of the
macula
where vision is sharpest. Meso-zeaxanthin has been identified in certain foods including salmon, trout and shrimp. The meso-zeaxanthin in MacuShield® is a derivative of the marigold flower Tagetes Erecta, sourced from Mexico.

No, MacuShield® does not contain gluten.
I am a smoker / ex- smoker can I take MacuShield®?
Yes, you can take MacuShield® if you are a smoker / ex-smoker as it does not contain beta carotene.
Can MacuShield® be taken by diabetics?
Yes, MacuShield® does not contain any sucrose (sugar) so is safe to be taken by diabetics.
What age is it recommended to start taking MacuShield®?
MacuShield® is recommended to people over the age of 50. However, if you have a close relative, sibling or parent, who presents with low macular pigment, it may be advantageous to take it sooner.
